Diablos 1 - Nemesis 0: A Big Night For Diablos Everywhere

Diablos around the world had reason to celebrate last night. First off, your hometown club has finally scratched and clawed their way to the lone spot on top of the D1 West standings. They earned two points by defeating the Nemesis 1-0 in a hard fought, chippy, and (needless to say) defensive battle.

Johnny "J.D." Driscoll had the lone, shorthanded tally with a wicked wrister over the blocker of the Nemesis 'tender. The Diablo plumbers kept the explosive Nemesis offense from getting any good looks and goaltender Justin Alderink turned away all 30 shots to earn the shutout.

The Diablos are now the owners of the best record in the D1 West division and will be playing the Buccaneers next Saturday at Breck Arena.

Ecstatic as you might be over the hockey game, that was not the only Diablo triumph last night. The Diablos favorite stripper turned screenwriter, Diablo Cody, won an Oscar (slightly less prestigious than the AHA D1 Title) for Best Original Screenplay for her movie Juno. How much do we love Diablo Cody? Watch.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, this screenwriting thing is working out because we'd really like to see her back on the pole.
